Daily Delicious: Paleo “Peanut Butter” and Jelly Burgers!

Wednesday’s “Daily Delicious” comes to us from Melissa Joulwan at TheClothesMakeTheGirl.

This recipe, for a Paleo peanut butter and jelly BURGER, was inspired by a non-Paleo burger Joulwan ate at a restaurant in Venice, called 26 Beach.

(Yes, this restaurant also has SUSHI BURGERS! Whaaat?! Check out the menu!)

According to 26 Beach’s website, the burger includes: “Creamy Skippy’s peanut butter and Knott’s berry strawberry jam. No lettuce or tomato on this one. Served with your choice of side.”

After tasting this burger, Joulwan decided to Paleo-ize the recipe, and make a Paleo PB&J Burger of her own.

The “jelly” is made using strawberries, lemon juice and powdered ginger. I would think you could also substitute blueberries or grapes if you wanted a different flavor for your jelly.

Instead of the non-Paleo peanut butter, you could utilize sunbutter, almond butter or tahini.

Other than your PB&J, all you need is beef, salt and pepper and other seasonings.

The burgers are cooked, the jelly is sauteed, and the “PB” is heated up.

When the burgers are ready, they are slathered with the “PB” and jelly, perhaps topped with some scallions as a garnish, and you’re ready to enjoy!

It’s as easy as that — and you have a sweet, yet savory nontraditional burger to enjoy!

  1. Thanks for the shout out to my recipe. It really is crazy-good. Did you try it?
Another fun variation is sauteed bananas instead of “jelly” and a sprinkle of cooked bacon on top of the nut butter. YUM!

I haven’t tried it yet, but it is on the top of my “To-Make” list! The bananas and bacon are a GREAT idea! I think I like that even better than the jelly! Thank you for the comment!!! 🙂
